Mud Island River Park is Open for the 2011 season
On Saturday, April 9, Mud Island River Park opened for one of its most exciting seasons yet. Visitors can look forward to enjoying the exceptional 18-gallery Mississippi River Museum and one-of-a-kind Riverwalk model. With over 5,000 artifacts and two full-scale boat models, the museum chronicles 10,000 years of the history of Ole Man River. The Riverwalk is a ½ mile-long scale model of the mighty Mississippi River.
The park has a full season of special events as well, including returning events such as “Sleep Out on the Mississippi,” “Funday Sunday,” and Amphitheatre concerts. Visitors can also venture out into the Wolf River Harbor in a canoe or kayak, ride around the Island on a bicycle, or pedal around the Gulf of Mexico in a pedal boat – all of which can be rented from the Mud Island Adventure Center.
General admission to Mud Island River Park is free. For operating hours, event calendar, and pricing, call Mud Island River Park at (901) 576-7241, or visit the Mud Island River Park website at www.mudisland.com.
